Satellite Photograph of Venezuela Street Painting

was so generous to have a satellite overhead to take a photograph of our street painting on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009. It's not as easy to see as our last year's Guinness World Record which took us two weeks to create and we had some really nice negative space covered that help the visuals. But if you look closely you can see the plant leaf and vine and drop shadow.

We had two days of prep on this site. I can tell by the photo that it was taken early on Friday. There is no color in the leaves. On Sat. we ran out of space to draw on and had to grow our piece adding another 13 large shapes to the kids and community to use. In all we had approx. 1,500 involved over two days - pretty cool!

Here is the original sketch, and what it looked like being worked on.

Thank you IARTES (Instituto de las Artes de la Imagen y el Espacio) and the Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Cultura for bringing us down to South America!

And thank you everyone who recently donated to the project supplying the chalk to draw with!

Venezuela: Amazing ~ Asombroso

Wow.... I was in Caracas, Venezuela for almost a week and man, did we lay down some chalk! The center of our hearts overflowed with the creative spirit.

Each morning and every evening we opened with circle.

And the children came, and drew, so much that we had to expand our site in the end by adding 13 more spaces to draw!

The kids were amazing!

The support team amazing!

And the master class workshop was unreal!

to be continued....

Thank you everyone! And yes we did get a satellite photograph!
